BLITZ JAPANESE SUPPLIES IN BURMA./ The heaviest blow yet struck by R.A.F./ and U.S.A.A.F. heavy Liberator/ bombers was delivered against Taungup,/ 130 miles below Akyab on the west Burma Coast./ It was the most concentrated raid over delivered/ against a single target in this theatre/ of war. Two hundred and fifty/ tons of high explosive and incendiary/ bombs were dropped in 25 minutes in/ daylight. The number of bombers was the largest/ yet put into the air in a single operation/ on the Burma front by Strategie Air Force./ Thickly wooded jungle hid stores/ containing ammunition, petrol, food and clothing/ for the japanese Army in Burma, for Taungup is/ the japanese chief supply base for the/ Arakan.[S]ome of its dump areas are over a/ mile in lenght.
