There were/ 6 races, both flat and steeplechase, which attracted a large num-/ ber of entries. The meeting was well attended./ Watching the racing were Lt. Gen. Mc Creery, Marshal Koniev, Maj./ Gen. A. M. Gruenther, U. S. Army , and Gen. Bethuard, of the French/ Forces. Lt. Gen. Mc Creery presented a cup to the winner of the/ Champion Stakes, a steeplechase over 2 miles 1 furlong which was/ won by the General's own horse "Jumbo"./ 1-Lt. Gen. Mc Creery and Marshal Koniev seated at a table in the/ officers' stand . On the table is the cup which Lt. Gen. Mc Creery/ presented to the winner of the Champion Stakes./\p
